Charcoal Drawing Youth Art Studio

Saturdays OR Sundays
12-2PM OR 2-4PM
ART101's charcoal drawing programme offers a solid foundation for all arts practice and is a necessary starting point for the majority of programs we offer. Students are empowered with skills and strategies to truly 'see' as an artist and translate that to paper. Once a minimum level of competency is reached (1-2 terms), students can then elect to work in soft pastels, pastel pencils, gouache or watercolour painting.

The slow, incremental process of this method requires a measure of maturity, focus and tenacity. With this in mind, new students with little to no experience should complete at least a term of Sketch & Draw in order to cultivate confidence and patience before progressing to the charcoal program. We will ask for recent examples of your child’s sketches/drawings so as to recommend the best program to start with.

The term fee is $500
The term fee is payable in full at time of booking in order to secure a space. Advance booking is required as places are strictly limited and fill quickly.
Please note that returning students are invited to reenrol before spaces are opened for new students on the waitlist. Returning student places must kindly be paid for in full by the due date on the invoice, unfortunately failure to do so will see your child’s place offered to new students.
Parents are most welcome to enrol with their child for the Youth Studio programs and we also encourage you to arrive early when collecting, from time to time, so as to provide you with a progress update. We are committed to your child’s success and open, regular communication ensures this.

MATERIALS
It is a requirement that students have their own materials and tools for use in the studio and at home. This instils a sense of responsibility and facilitates further practice outside of the studio.
We've shopped around for you and found the best value without compromising quality (plus the convenience of home delivery). Should you choose to purchase elsewhere, please do not accept substitute products as these are all too often inappropriate.

The following list links to each product on Amazon Australia who offer free delivery for Prime members and purchases over a certain amount. Some items may come from international Amazon stores so it is best to order at least 2-3 weeks in advance to allow for any delay in delivery.
If any items on the list are out of stock, do contact us as soon as possible for a recommended suitable alternative.
It is important for your young artist to have all of the items on the list as we do not provide these in the studio.

PLEASE NOTE:
*This is a term program which is time-limited/date specific and there are no 'make-up' sessions or credits brought forward to the following term for missed classes, regardless of reason for absence.
*Term fees will not be adjusted for planned absences as your child’s place is reserved for the entirety of the term program.
*We reserve the right to cancel a class in exceptional circumstances (severe weather event, public safety emergency, government health directive etc), an alternative date and time will be scheduled before the next term.
*Unfortunately we do not offer ‘trial’ or casual classes.
