SOFT PASTEL Painting Classes Brisbane

Saturdays or Sundays
12-2pm OR 2-4pm
Working in soft pastels is essentially painting with a dry yet sumptuous medium and is intensely satisfying for those who enjoy the tactile experience. The nature of soft pastels allows for expressive, painterly mark-making as layers are built up much like painting with oils.
Our studio sessions focus on the language of soft pastels as you discover different application methods and how to construct a composition through layering. You will learn how to choose good reference images as well as how to start, progress and complete a composition.

In our mixed discipline studio you will be exposed to other mediums that you may want to try as you develop your skills. Small class sizes include students at different stages along the learning timeline but each student is generally taught as an individual which ensures you progress at your own pace.

MATERIALS:
As a BYO materials studio, so that students progress is accelerated with home studio practice, we recommend starting with an inexpensive student set of soft pastels and paper for your first term.
Once you’ve established your love for soft pastels you will want to upgrade to a professional set with a greater selection of colours as well as more ‘toothy’ surface options to really build those layers.
With this in mind we have curated 2 lists which are available from Amazon with the convenience of home delivery. We constantly review list items and select products for the best value without compromising quality.

TERM FEES:
Our weekly art class studio sessions run in a term block of 9 weeks in line with the Queensland school terms.
The term fee is $500.
Full payment is required to secure your term booking as places are strictly limited and it is best to book well in advance to avoid disappointment as sessions fill up quickly. Payment options and availability will be provided when you contact us to book.
